KARACHI — Pakistan's stock market staged a notable recovery at the end of the week, with renewed buying pushing the benchmark KSE-100 Index back above the 170,000 level.

The index added 1,841.39 points, representing a daily increase of 1.09%, and closed at 170,884.59. During the session, the benchmark also moved above 171,000 before settling lower.

Market activity improved considerably. Trading volume increased by more than 49% to approximately 576.25 million shares, while the value of transactions rose to around Rs22.40 billion.

Several major companies contributed to the advance, including Fauji Fertiliser, United Bank, Meezan Bank, Lucky Cement and Habib Bank.

Oil-market developments were another factor watched closely by investors. Continued weakness in crude prices and signs of easing supply concerns helped improve sentiment toward energy-sensitive businesses and the wider market.

The market is also responding to broader developments in Pakistan's external financing position. Total liquid foreign exchange reserves recently reached approximately $26.8 billion, following the receipt of $3 billion from the country's Eurobond issuance.

Investors will continue to monitor international oil prices, foreign-exchange conditions, economic data and geopolitical developments as they assess the outlook for listed companies.
